Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' departure on Monday.

The Manager's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a special position here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about these. "I don't think everyone has to go around and announce what they were, but of course it's a really big football club."

McKenna signed a new four-year contract in last year and was asked about his alleged buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Position

The former striker represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to finish the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from immediately taking the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, due to a successful Nations League campaign, even if they not end up Group J second place.

Given his present stance, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
