Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments
The club claimed England's top flight last season, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: âI said I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. Therefore if then itâs Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.â
âAt 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, I donât have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.â
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to management, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. âI donât even know exactly, I love what I do right now,â he commented. âNo longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I donât miss going to interviews four times, three times a week or constant media duties a week.
âI donât miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.â
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last campaign. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a decline.
â[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, they will be fine.â
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling recently.
âHow do you replace such an individual? Itâs not about his on-field talent, it's his character. I canât imagine the team environment without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad also. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is difficult. Overwhelming.â
