Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in action and insanity with the same glee, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by having a fresh location and ensemble in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this complex and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our shared irreverent, daring sensibility to the television.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
