Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered its support for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
